Megan & Ryan’s Chic Black-Tie Wedding at Wharfedale Grange, Leeds
There is something quietly beautiful about the meeting of two worlds: the polish of black tie and the warmth of a rustic country setting. Megan and Ryan’s wedding at Wharfedale Grange, near Leeds, brought them together so effortlessly—a celebration full of style, softness and the kind of joy that makes every photograph feel alive.
With its textured stone walls, rich timber and glittering chandeliers, Wharfedale Grange offered a striking backdrop to their day. The country setting gave everything a sense of ease, while the interiors brought just the right touch of glamour. It was rustic, but never understated; elegant, but never formal in spirit.
The smaller details told their own story. An engagement ring nestled among ivory roses, soft pink petals and eucalyptus. Pearl-trimmed bridal shoes beside delicate blush stationery, a bottle of perfume and the promise of the day ahead. Those little pieces, photographed before the celebrations unfolded, are such a lovely way to remember how it all began.
Megan looked wonderfully chic in her off-the-shoulder gown, its softly draped neckline and clean silhouette letting her natural beauty shine. Her bouquet of white roses, pale pink flowers and fresh greenery brought a gentle romance to the look. One of my favourite frames captures her stepping down the stone staircase, smiling, with her veil trailing behind her—a moment of movement and anticipation, entirely her own.
One of the softest frames of the morning is Megan's smile appearing through the flowers—her bridesmaids holding their bouquets up around her face, petals and eucalyptus framing her entirely.
Ryan and his groomsmen brought classic black-tie style in dark suits and bow ties, their laughter adding a lovely sense of spontaneity to the portraits. Across the day, it was that balance I loved most: beautifully considered outfits, worn by people who were simply enjoying being together.
Megan’s bridesmaids echoed the softness of the flowers in pale blush dresses. Gathered against the venue’s warm stone walls with glasses in hand, they made such a beautiful picture of friendship and celebration. Nothing needed to feel overly arranged; their smiles did all the work.
After the ceremony we walked the grounds together: Megan and Ryan beneath the great weeping tree, across the lawn where the wildflowers had turned gold, past the stone house and the old wooden gate with the Yorkshire fields stretching out behind them. Some frames in colour, some in black and white—two ways of remembering the same quiet twenty minutes.
One of the frames I keep returning to is Megan’s veil catching the breeze, drifting across the space between them while Ryan leans in. It softens the whole photograph—half kiss, half blur, entirely theirs.
And then came the confetti. Framed by Wharfedale Grange’s great arched doorway, Megan and Ryan stepped out hand in hand into a shower of petals and cheers. Their faces say everything—wide smiles, unguarded laughter and that wonderful, just-married happiness. In colour, the blush dresses and green foliage bring the scene to life; in black and white, all your attention goes straight to the feeling.
A kiss among their guests offered a quieter moment within the celebration. Still surrounded by the people they love, bouquet held close, Megan and Ryan seemed completely caught up in each other. These are the photographs I always come back to: not just how a wedding looked, but how it felt to be there.
And then there is the photograph that says it all: Megan and Ryan with their baby daughter between them, Ryan's cheek against hers, Megan smiling as if nothing else in the world existed. Weddings are never only about two people—they are about the small family who came to watch them say yes.
Inside, the reception space carried that same blend of country character and chic occasion. Long tables stretched beneath exposed beams and sparkling chandeliers, with deep blue chairs and strings of lights bringing richness to the room. Above it all, the illuminated ‘THE WADDYS’ letters made the setting unmistakably theirs—a personal touch on a wonderfully grand scale.
And the night loosened completely. They pushed through the great glass doors together, Ryan’s fist in the air; heads tilted back for a shared drink; then the whole room waving napkins beneath the neon glow of a ‘Crazy little thing called love’ sign. Black tie all day, and still they found the fun in it.
Megan and Ryan’s day was a reminder that timeless style never needs to come at the expense of warmth. Black tie, soft flowers and a stunning Yorkshire setting made it beautiful; the laughter, connection and completely unfiltered happiness made it theirs.
To Megan and Ryan—thank you for letting me capture such a lovely chapter of your story. It was a joy to photograph a celebration with so much elegance and so much heart.
With love, Robyn Francesca x
